Over thirty years of working for social, economic, and political justice for all
New Hampshire Citizens Alliance 4 Park Street, Suite 304 Concord, NH 03301 603-225-2097
Formerly the North Country Institute, New Hampshire Citizens Alliance (NHCA) was founded in 1978 in Haverhill, NH by a group of parents concerned about their schools, fairness of their taxes, and other local issues. They wrote letters to town officials, organized events, and reached out to inform their neighbors. Soon after this they began to envision a broader purpose for their group, and New Hampshire Citizens Alliance was born.
Today, New Hampshire Citizens Alliance is a non-partisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect and expand social, economic, and political justice for people and families in the Granite State.
For thirty years NHCA has worked for local, state and federal policies that support the priorities of real people on a range of issues including health care, civil rights, immigrants' and workers' rights, education equity, environmental protection, stimulating a healthy economy, and fair elections. Our campaigns galvanize public support to win national budget priorities that benefit middle, moderate, and low-income people as well. NHCA works closely with our national partner, US Action Education Fund, to advance federal issues that create positive economic and social change.
To further our mission, we empower people at both the grassroots and grasstops levels to advocate for issues that concern them and provide support as they develop the skills needed to make real change. Over the last several years we have emerged as a statewide civic engagement leader by launching ground-breaking voter education and mobilization efforts in key areas of the state while also providing comprehensive training opportunities to people interested in pursuing civic leadership opportunities in their communities.
